Cristmas Cruise on the Colorado River

The cruise was a lot of fun. We could not have asked for better weather. It started out at 35 degrees, but warmed up quickly to the middle 60's with clear sunny skies.

In attendance were Howard Boyle (Scat), Lane Crampton (Air Commander), Ralph DuBose (Modified Scat), and myself, Rob Tilton (UH-12T4).

This is the first time that any of us had been on this stretch of water. It is narrow with plenty of bends and long enough straights to open it up. I reached a new top speed of 47.1 mph. :)

Like any other hover-in, we had our share of problems. Some logistical and some mechanical. It turns out that the small town of Webberville, TX, has 2 parks. Big Webberville Park and Little Webbervile Park. Howard and I went to the Little Webberville Park while everyone else visited the Big Webberville Park before joining us at the Little Webberville Park. Thankfully the mechanical problems were minor, temporary loss of a lift engine, finger skirt and rudder repair. All in all, it was a lot of fun. I hope to get back and fly the river again.
