Here are a couple of pictures of Howard delivering the
hull. It is one big block of foam.
2/29/2004 - Leap Day
My good buddy Mark came over and helped place the plywood skin on the
top of the hull. The original lift duct that was on the craft was for
a 26" fan. I will be using a 30" fan so the old duct had to be removed.
It took about 2 minutes with the chainsaw to liberate the old duct and
20 minutes to clean up the mess. The plywood is being pressed to the
hull with the use of a vacuum bag.

I removed the vacuum bag and cleaned the garage. The first picture
shows the new plywood deck. The second picture shows my unfinished 6F
hull sitting on the 15S.

The plywood was trimmed back to the edge of the hull and the edge was
fiberglassed with 10oz biaxal fiberglass. This is the first time I have
used 10oz and it takes a lot of epoxy, but it should provide a lot of
strength. The big flat area makes a good place to set stuff.
3/15/2004.
The sides for the cockpit have been fiberglassed together to make one
long piece that will run the length of the cockpit. The front sides
have been trimmed to shape.
3/16/2004.
My neighbor came over to help set the thrust duct on the craft. This
is a 2 person job. The duct is glued to the hull and the lower supports
have been fiberglassed in place. Next, 2 part foam will be used to fill
in the area enclosed by the lower supports.
3/23/2004.
The struts for the thrust duct were made from 1/4" plywood covered with
carbon fiber and then placed in the vacuum bag for a good bond. The
lower struts have been fit in place and are ready for fiberglass.
3/25/2004.
Started work on the cockpit. The lower stringers have been
attached to the hull.
3/30/2004.
Added the sides for the seat. The cockpit sides will be next.
5/26/04
I finally knocked out the center form for the thrust duct. The upper
struts and the trim wing mount are in place. They still need some fiberglass.
